Volumes

4min

In development, volumes are used to define areas of space with specific properties. These properties can be used to control the behavior of objects within the volume, such as their visibility, movement, or interaction with other objects.

Overview

There are many different types of volumes that can be used in game development, each with its own specific purpose. Some common types of volumes include:

  • Visibility
  • Collision
  • Trigger

Volumes can be used together to create complex game worlds with a variety of different properties. For example, a visibility volume can be used to define a room, and a collision volume can be used to define the walls of the room. This will ensure that only objects that are inside the room are rendered, and that objects that collide with the walls of the room will bounce off.
